What? What the hell am I going to do with this Ph.D in briarology and pipe engineering I bought from http://www.buyyourdegree.com? Dammit! I thought I'd finally found the secret to being a master pipemaker. I even changed my name to Jess Eltang Hansen Nordh in hopes of beefing up my street cred.

Hmmm...I guess maybe I should have just spent that time working on a pipe made from whatever briar I could get my hands on. Damn. That sounds like work.

Simeon, in your case, buying the degree was probably as good an idea as any.

Yep. Once you get past some basic stuff about how to line things up, there's very little that can be learned through research and Googling.

I'll sell you an honorary doctorate in full-bentology if you like. $50 and it's yours!

Todd,
Understandably, based on past experience, I think you misunderstood, and I'm not sure of exactly how I pushed your mad button, again, but this is the new me, and I'm not going to get into those bitchin' little fights with you, even though it might be entertaining to some of the forum readers.
You must admit, knowledge can be helpful in pipemaking. I have learned a lot from other pipemakers website how-to's, and in this forum, and the internet is a good source of tools and materials.
And a question... Do you know of any other good cutters, besides...
Mimmo - http://www.romeobriar.com/
Jaume Hom - http://www.briarblocks.com/
Yazid - http://www.yazidbriar.com/
???
I know of some briar dealers, pipemakers, and, correction, I do know of some other cutters, but I don't know much about them.

Keep it cool,
M.M.

Same question I asked Todd, do you know of any other good cutters?
Algerian - Yazid, I guess?
Italians - Mimmo and Who? and Who?
Greek- Who?

I've seen some other sources...dealers, pipemakers, and posibly some manufacturers. Some of the sites are a bit vague, and, correction, I do know of some other cutters, but I don't know much about them. Which ones have you tried, which were good sources, referred to above?

Thanks Kurt, I've seen it, but I did forget some of the sources listed there.

This pipe really makes me want to start making pipes again! Truly inspirational.

Might you be looking for the Golden Spiral in the curves? I don't believe he was going for that effect, but the curves do seem to have that feel to them as they have similar proportions.
