Bow Ties
I am a gurlie-man and my other hobby isn't making guns or knives or bombs, but sewing. Here are a few creations:
The two plaid ones are made from suit-weight wool.
The blue paisley one is made from a cotton tie from the thrift store, and the others are made from used silk ties.
They are all about the same size, so the last picture is a good idea of what they'll look like tied. It's made with one side of one end a different color, which means that it can be tied three ways:
1. All yellow
2. Yellow front with red in the middle and red back bow (pictured)
3. Red front with yellow in the middle and yellow back bow
All of the other ties can be mixed and matched to create effects 2 and 3 above, by unclipping the clasp.
I'm working on some padded pipe sleeves, too, so I'll post when I get them done!

While I'm not a bow-tie guy, I will say this...contrary to popular belief I think every man should know how to sew. Well, at least mend.

Re: Bow Ties
I prefer bombs, myself, and I'm just putting the finishing touches on the Polonium initiator for the detonator of a 20 kiloton nuke which will be used as the detonator for a 100 megaton H-bomb.
But seriously, who needs bombs.
Cool ties. I really like the bow tie.

Re: Bow Ties
That are some beautiful designs and i find the combination of yellow-red very appealing .With such a renaissance of the bow tie i can very well imagine it in this new age.

I know more of sewing than my girlfriend and probably grandmother combined!
It has proven a very useful trade to know something of, saving me thousands of dollars in repair on anything from suits to hiking bags.
Bowties aren't really in my style guide, but the ones you made look fantastic.

Re: Bow Ties
It has saved me a bunch, as well. I love getting clothes at thrift stores for nearly nothing, then altering them to fit or tearing them up and using the material to make something!
Thanks for the compliments, all. If anyone is interested in one, pm me.
Edit:
I made these, too, with pipes in mind:

What would a pouch cost a guy?

Re: Bow Ties
I was thinking about $12 shipped considering time spent and materials. Does that seem reasonable, or am I asking too much? I don't want to jump into the price range of established pipe-pouch sewers without building up a solid base.

OK. That made me laugh. Out loud.Thomas Tkach wrote:. . . I don't want to jump into the price range of established pipe-pouch sewers without building up a solid base.
And remember - you don't sell your pipe pouches to customers. You sell to "collectors".
