Ready for Spoon Bits?
Ready for Spoon Bits?
Everyone,
I posted on the original thread that I was ready to get under way on the spoon bit project, and have had minimal responses. The price will be very close to $400 for the set plus actual shipping cost... This is the price if I get 25 or more orders... price will be higher if there are fewer orders... One conical bit with a nearly pointed bottom, 3/4, 13/16, and choice of 11/16 or 7/8 ( all of these will have a radius on the end and straight walls). I'd like to start ASAP, so please respond if this interest you...
So far, I have received confirmation from the following people, and correct me if I am wrong:
Tyler PAID
Trevor PAID
jogilli PAID
LAH PAID
wdteipen PAID
jjpipes PAID ($415.)
Ernie Markel PAID
Charlie Cole PAID
Premal PAID
mredmond PAID
Hillbilly Weaver PAID
kkendall PAID
staffwalker PAID
Scott Thile PAID
Nate PAID
morrow PAID
Dirk C. PAID IN FULL
Walle PAID IN FULL
DaBamba PAID IN FULL
Brighton PAID
GastonI (100.00)
larrysson PAID
Leus PAID (422.50)
Adam Remmington PAID (430.00)
Sam Adebayo PAID (427)
That's 25, I do believe..... now to collect the money to get this project rolling!!
Thanks,
Brad Pohlmann

Brad,
You can add me to the list. I wasn't sure if the original post was being used for confirmations, so thanks for clarifying.

I have to drop out, unfortunately. I'm a bit, well, financially challenged at the moment.
Unless you want to trade against a bunch of pipes....?

Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?
Brad, count me in. That damn Jeff Gracik taught me how to shape first, so now I feel obligated.
I'd prefer a 7/8" for that last one, but if you need to make them all the same, an 11/16" is great.

Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?
Are you saying you want $400.00 + shipping for 3 spoon bits?
Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?
No- four...
Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?
Can you please show a picture of what the finished "set" of spoon bits will look like.
It would be much appreciated.

They haven't been made yet.... there are no pics....I am relying on my reputation as an honest person, a somewhat successful pipe maker, and having served a 4 year / 8000 hour tool and die apprenticeship to speak for what is being offered.... I think others here will vouch for me...

When do you need the money? Also, how best to get it to you? You might want to consider making a Paypal button that people can just click and pay, for simplicity's sake, though you've probably already thought of that. Anyway, let me know and I can send a check, CC, or whatever.
About the price - Custom ground bits tend to run $100+ from anywhere, so $400 for 4 good ones is a perfectly good deal.

Re: Ready for Spoon Bits?
Trevor,
Thanks for the note... I don't want any money until there are 25 sets... if that doesn't happen, the price will have to increase, or the project cancelled....
Thanks Again,
Brad

I'd vouch for you Brad, but that would only damage your reputation... just ask Bruce.BDP wrote:They haven't been made yet.... there are no pics....I am relying on my reputation as an honest person, a somewhat successful pipe maker, and having served a 4 year / 8000 hour tool and die apprenticeship to speak for what is being offered.... In case you just wanted a general idea:Boekweg wrote:Can you please show a picture of what the finished "set" of spoon bits will look like.

You'll notice that Brad is mentioned in that same article under section 6.4.1 as a "highly skilled machinist." FWIW
