Look what I found in my garage today!

Post by SimeonTurner »

I got home from a trip to San Diego this afternoon. Guess what I found in my garage when I got home?

Now I just need to figure out how to get it down the stairs into my workshop...800lbs...

Congrats! That's a sexy piece of machinery. You should be fine getting down the stairs...you Colorado guys are all burly, rugged, craft beer drinking outdoorsmen, right?

Your workbench is approximately 33" lower than mine, Simeon. I'm not saying yours is WRONG or BAD.... but... you might just wanna try something a little taller?

That looks like a badass pipemaking station.

You are such a sissy, Simon and must have spent too much time becoming a liberal in San Diego. And.....with such a hack as the Greyhic fellow.
Get innovative and get it down the stairs!!!
Seriously, I don't envy you, at all. Be careful!!!
Friggin' hire some people that don't care if they f up their backs!!!
Give me a call if you need any tips on the lathe.

Hey Simeon,
I think I mentioned this in Chicago, but since you now have the lathe I'll reiterate: I hate you. (Sorry, I don't mask jealous very well.) :)

Don't hate me cause my lathe is beautiful. :P

If it eases the pain, i did pay for the damn thing back on January 3rd, and just had it show up on Tuesday. The psychological damage was far more costly than the machine itself. I feel like I almost cracked...i started imagining pipes in my head that looked vaguely Walle-esque.

Very nice. That looks like the PM1127. I'm expecting mine in July. Hopefully, I'm home when the delivery guy comes so I won't have to do the Part II delivery that you're up against.

Cheers,

Jeff

I FINALLY got it set up on Monday. I had to rearrange my whole shop, moving it from the basement to my garage because I was horrified at the idea of trying to haul the lathe down the stairs. After much wailing and teeth gnashing, it's finally set up, though I'm not anywhere near "organized" in the new space yet.

The lathe is crazy sweet though. runs quiet and smooth, and the variable speed motor is killer. I need to buy about 6 more QC toolposts though, and then get some nice cutting tools made.

So yes, It's awesome. Awesomer soon... :)
