Nova chuck slightly off center?

Post by Charl »

I eventually got myself a Supernova2 chuck. After a bit of a mission to get some kind of adapter made for it to fit on my lathe, I turned it on.. But it doesn't run true. There's a bit of a wobble.
The adapter is fine and centered, with everything else running true.
Anybody else had this kind of problem with it? A tool-and-die-maker friend with one told me his are doing exactly the same. Any ideas?

The last time I got a new chuck I had the same problem, except that I noticed that the chuck did not screw onto the threads on the head stock smoothly.

I eventually ran a tap into the chuck threads and dislodged a very small sliver of steel that was keeping the chuck from screwing on centered.
