Stamp size?

Post by Charl »

I suppose a stamp fits under tools? :?
After years of making pipes I've come to the stage where I can get my own stamp made. I was thinking of 15mm from left to right, but as my logo is quite long, I'm wondering if I shouldn't make it even smaller. Any help will be appreciated!

I think that you must not do it smaller!
I think that you could make it at 2cm long.
You can print out, on paper, your logo in two or three different sizes and then you can put them on your pipes and you could see how they look, so you can choose the better size.

Just kidding. Longer stamps are a real pain to use and there are some pipes that they won't work on at all. The smaller you can get it and it still be legible, the easier it will be to use. If you use Paul at A&M Stamps he can guide you.

 Thought I was gonna get it for size!
Paul would have been great, but unfortunately the shipping to deepest darkest Africa would have killed me. I'm going to try my luck locally and hope for the best.

Mine is about 14mm wide (oval shaped) and I'd LOVE for it to be about half that big. It's extremely challenging to get a nice clean impression when it's so wide. I agree with Wayne...the smaller the better. :)

I am in the process of making a new logo because right now my stamp is just my name: ARMENTROUT. Even with 1/16 inch letters the stamp is almost 3/4 of an inch long and it is almost impossible to get a clean stamp on anything other than a perfectly straight shank. Go smaller and, if possible, go for more of a round shape rather than a longer shape.

My stamp is about 18mm long. I've got a good setup for stamping, but if I have another stamp made it will be smaller.
