Shoot, for number three that's not bad. I would have either shortened the base or put an angle on it. From the first picture of its profile I'd say that you could take just a smidge more off at the bowl/shank junction, but that's being picky.

Crappy pictures and you still caught that. Keen eye. I did not sand the chamber. I am already smoking this pipe. I have no idea why I didn't. If my pipes were good enough to sell I certainly would.

While on the subject of sanding the chamber; To what grit? Why sand it? Does the cake form easier if not sanded to a higher grit? Is it merely personal preference? Or does it just look better?

180 grit is fine. It's just a pet peeve of mine. Carry on.
