A challenging shape to start with but I think overall for a 2nd pipe it is good, much better than some I have seen certainly. Best advice I can offer is to read the critiques on this forum, learn as much as you can and most importantly make as many pipes as you can, only through experience can you learn a lot of the stuff others here have.

Okay guys, I just cracked the shank. I was fitting the rod stock I was going to make the new stem out of and got a little wild and crazy. I think it is salvageable as it is just cracked and didn't blow a huge chunk out. What are my choices to fix it? should I epoxy the crack and give my uncle a disclaimer to be super duper careful? Sand the shank down past the crack (I would lose about half the purple heartwood)?
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.
