centering bit question??

Post by timothy thorpe »

Hi Guys,

I have been interested in trying the countersink centering bits. not that i have a problem with drilling :) if my drilling or holes are off its all my fault. I would like to give these a try as i always like buying new tools! so I am seeing a 5 pack with really no sizes. I use a 5/16 mortise and a 1/4 inch etc . so will the standard 5 pack i am seeing for 7? work?

thanks

What I have is the cheap set from eBay. It works well, even on aluminum. I rarely use it on briar. I do use it however when I'm leaving plateaux on the shank end as it helps to keep my drill bit from wandering when I start my drilling on the mortise/airway.

Yes you just use the closest size to the hole you are drilling, but slightly smaller obviously.
