Issues with reassembling Saddle on Jet BD920N
Issues with reassembling Saddle on Jet BD920N
I am in the process of cleaning up a BD920N metal lathe that I recently acquired. I recently took the saddle off, cleaned up the ways and put it back on. The problem I am having is now it is very hard to feed in either direction. Is there a certain torque that I should be achieving when tightening the screws that connect the saddle to the apron? If so, what is it? Thanks for any help!
Re: Issues with reassembling Saddle on Jet BD920N
If you're looking straight down on the saddle, there are two large allen screws close to the front of the lathe. About 2 inches behind those are 2 smaller allen screws - those are responsible for how tight the movement is.

Thanks Mr. Markle! I will go back out there tonight and fix it. You da man.

Just talking from experience on my own lathe (not a JET) the bols that secure the carriage have shims to stop you tightening them up too much, also you may not have your gibs adjusted correctly.
