Yeti Pipe #25- Ghan
So this one was a bit out there- even for me. Churchwarden, sitter, with some super craggy rustication. But hey- the customer reigns supreme- all in all this pipe was a good experience, and in the end I fell in love with it. This is also the first pipe I've completed after a round of bronchitis- it's good to be back in the saddle!

Another Yeti masterpiece, but damn, how do you take such great pictures? I wish you'd do an instructional thread on pipe photography. I'll even pass the hat around. As a matter of fact, I'll even leave part of the money in the hat!

I may be able to at some point- it just seems like such a pain I think Neill Archer has a good tutorial on his passion for pipes blog if you do some digging in the archives. My process is something similar.

There's that green stain again... It's a trend now. Walt is not going to be happy.
I like the cragginess a ton. Makes me feel like I'm back in the mountains of Virginia.

I think it's the usual yellow-over-black-turns-green problem.Gershom wrote:There's that green stain again... It's a trend now. Walt is not going to be happy.

Briar, it's good for what ails ya.
How come? My yellow stain is great! It mixes well with red to give a nice golden orange color. The Smoking Yeti wrote:I pride myself in not owning any yellow stain.e Markle wrote:I think it's the usual yellow-over-black-turns-green problem.Gershom wrote:There's that green stain again... I had some annoying experiences where it had a nasty greenish hue- I just use orange and tan, cut it w/ denatured alcohol if need be.
Re: Yeti Pipe #25- Ghan
The yellow isn't the problem in that equation. It's the blue based black. That's why you have green on this pipe (unless it's just the images?).

No, actually I stained this pipe green on purpose. Using green dye.
