Victor Yashtylov - amazing idea/pipe

Post by wmolaw »

Don't know if this is the right place to put this, but have any of you seen this incredible pipe! The reverse calabash ramses! Look how it's engineered!

It's quite cool, but I have my doubts about the airtightness of this magnet-reservoir in the long run...

I think your doubts are unfounded, those magnets are incredibly strong, and will not wear out. The plastic seals, will be as resistant to give out as any tenon. I personally would have preferred it if he made that chamber lid with the same piece he took off so that the grain remained the same, but I think he wanted to highlight the fact that it was a lid.

well I suppose if one were to smoke to excess it would be a sin

"but what would be smoking to excess?"

Why smoking two pipes at once of course

Rev:

I tend to agree, with magnets that strong their tendency to weaken is not noticeable, at least to my limited experience.

I just found it a fascinating, creative, idea so incredibly well done as to take, at least, my breath away!

I know the magnets will hold, I use rare earth magnets myself in my pipe cabinet. However, the seal isn't made by the magnets, it's made by a plastic cover. And that is what worries me slightly.

I'm not very impressed by the lid thingy and don't really care for it but the stem inlay and overall stem work is amazing. The rest of the pipe is meh.

This pipe exhibits some serious ingenuity. I agree with Wayne on the stem work- it's downright stunning to look at. I think I may know how he executed it, I'll have to try it out one of these days... :D

Dude, I would love to see that, and I bet you could pull it off, too!

If I had to guess, I'd say he cut a sleeve of material, slid that sleeve over the ebonite (glued of course), then shaped the flare freehand or on a disk.

However, I'm probably wrong.

I can't see the pictures. Do you have to be a member of these Facebooks that the kids are talking about?

Sounds really interesting. Could somebody post a couple photos. I've done calabashes using rare-earth magnets several times, and would love to check it out. Problem is, I'm in Shanghai--no Facebook.

That's pretty awesome engineering. I cant imagine how many hours he put into that pipe. beautiful work. My only concern is the stem. looking at photo #2, he may need a magnet to keep the stem from falling out.

It means the cosmos of inverflex, the universe folding in on itself, while constantly expanding... I could give you the long explanation. But my head hurts .Pipes, Out of hand pipes, Not by hand.
