Bent Dublin

Post by N.Burnsworth »

Well I finally finished this bent Dublin tonight. It's ok, but I envisioned something better as far as finish and was going to rusticated it but I kind of liked the grain and went with it. I should have done the rustication. I think it would have turned out better if I did something similar to a donegal, or sea rock finish. Let me know what you think. I have to take all of the finish measurements but its almost 6 inches long and 2 1/8 tall, 3/4 bowl diameter, 1 7/8 deep. Oh, and sorry for the crap photos. I'll be doing better photos soon hopefully.

That is, for the most part, a good looking pipe.

I like the bevel to the tobacco chamber and the non-circular shape of the bowl.

And, from what I can see your button work looks pretty good.

My only critique is that the stem is too long.
Also, the stem taper needs to start at the stem / shank intersection.

Good job.

Not bad at all. The overall length of the pipe is okay. The length of the shank should be longer and the stem shorter though.

Apart from what's been said, it's also got a very nice flow to it.

Thanks Wayne, and Charl, all of your suggestions and encouragement mean the world too me. I'm hoping to have a solid contest pipe for Kansas City show. Hoping to make a few more dublin shaped pipes in the next few weeks and get that one that say I'm a winner, I belong :D
Wayne, definitely looking forward to talking with you and Nate again at the Columbus show. I will definitely have a table there this year.
