My first pipe.

Hello!
I'm new in this forum and totally new in everything regarding pipes. In fact, i even never held a pipe before, needless to say that i haven't been smoking one either. So you might say I'm a virgin.
Also, I'm from Sweden and not the best in English so I'm sorry if what i write is total gibberish..

This is what i made from a pre-drilled block i bought. The stem was included in the kit. I don't have a lathe, belt grinder or any other tools like that. I just use a file, knife and sandpaper. I googled some different pipe models and i choose to make a billiard pipe. I don't know if i succeed with that but have in mind that i never held a pipe in my hands before.

I stained it 4 times until i was satisfied. Now I'm looking forward to start another project. This was fun!

Feel free to give critics so that i might learn.

Thanks for liking it guys, i know there is a lots of space for improvement. Just wish i could do my own stems.. I have nothing against it being pre-drilled, but i really don´t like the shape and feel of the stem, if you understand my point..

With practice you can make a preform almost indistinguishable from hand cut. Don't look at that as a huge barrier, especially starting out. One thing at a time.

If you start with an over-sized stem, it's not all that hard to bring it down to size with a file and sandpaper. Even with pre-molded stems, you have more control over their final shape than you might think at first.

I wish now after looking at so many amazing pipes in this forum that i would have made the shank less cone shaped and more straight. I´ll try to do that better looking on next pipe.

Keep your tooling simple like this for a while. It'll teach you a lot.

Yeah I can guess so. Luckily I like working with handtools. And I don't have any choice anyway, I live in a small small apartment.
