I absolutely love the work Olie does, it's extremely creative. I admire the hell out of him. He does what he loves and has more fun than anyone. Each piece is unique and artistic.
You'll never meet a nicer man and I consider him one of my good friends.
Most pipe makers could take a lesson from Olie. He's found his own voice in this craft. How many other pipe makers can say the same?
I agree, he does great interviews. His pod casts are an asset to the hobby.
So, George, kiss my ass and buy one of his Monstrosities, it offsets the the costs of his invaluable web site.

Listening to that, I'm struck by a few things. One is that Scottie hasn't played the "I'm girl" card at all, and never will. She could and should at this point, to her great benefit, but her attitude is literally "I'll let someone else handle that, I just make pipes." That attitude right there explains everything I've learned about Scottie, and it's been her method since she first posted on this board, and that's why she's having success.
Second thing I noticed is that almost all of her answers, about creative process, design etc could have come out of my mouth. Ideas about writer's block, catharsis, etc all mesh very much with my own feelings. Thought I was the only one.
Anyway here's a "cheers" to our perpetually young Scottie, may she make pipes for 50 years more.

I guess I've come down with a royal case of dumb-ass as I cannot hear the audio. My media player is working so it must be me.
Can anyone help out an old fart?

To say the least I'm not always the sharpest pencil in the box and have at times wondered why I could see a video or podcast in this case play and not hear it only to find I've forgotten to turn my speakers on or the volume on the video was turned down.

My lead is pretty dull too but that was the first thing I checked.RDPowell wrote:To say the least I'm not always the sharpest pencil in the box and have at times wondered why I could see a video or podcast in this case play and not hear it only to find I've forgotten to turn my speakers on or the volume on the video was turned down.
It's all moot now anyway as it works fine on my Sammy Galaxy. So I'll whiz on the PC and move on.
WAY TO GO SCOTTIE!

Huh? You are reading some sort of negative connotation into the word "weird," I think. (maybe it's a local or Southern thing?)
The Cambridge dictionary defines it thus:
Sounds like the perfect word to describe Ollie's pipes to me.English definition of “weird”
adjective [-er/-est only] /wɪərd/
› strange and different from anything natural or ordinary
As for you reaching conclusions about what I think of the man based upon my use of that word, I'm not sure how to respond. That's just too... well... weird.

It was great to see Scottie's name turn up in my Oom Paul podcast feed! Great interview and good to match a voice to the personality we know so well.
