smooth apple #9
this is my 9th pipe. and my first attempt at doing a contrast stain. im not really sure if this falls neatly into an apple shape but id like to here any critique you may have. i'm still working on my stem/shank junction it can never seem to get it just right.

Don't be shy about taking off material. Fit the stem with as sharp of tools as you can. Buy a good couple of hand files and file until there's no bump and the shank is straight. Leave the stem in and sand out the file marks.
This part of the making process is just lots of hard work. Don't be afraid to take off too much material. Every pipe maker has to sand through an airway or a chamber at least once to know how much material can be removed.
