Pipe #2 Feedback

Post by Tsumetai »

I have just completed my second pipe, starting from a pipe kit from PIMO. This is a poker worked entirely with a rasp and finished up with sandpaper. No space for tools in my tiny apartment unfortunately. While there are some shaping inconsistencies I am just glad there are no gouges from the rasp in this one.

Here are both of the pipes I have made together.

Impressive considering you did it all with hand tools.

Most impressive with only rasps and sandpaper. Well done.

Looks good overall. One thing I see is that it looks a little squashed on the bottom, like maybe the bowl is more oval than round when seen from the bottom.

Learning to do as much as you can with a few simple tools is an invaluable way to learn. You really know what your tools can do (and what you can do) once you push them to their limits.

Thank you all. Time to buy some more pipe kits and work on some more classic shapes.

I can definitely say I am learning a lot from every pipe I shape and that i'm looking forward to seeing what the pipes will look like after I have a few dozen more under my belt.
