Drilling the last 1/2 inch

Post by Nick »

What do you all use to drill the last 1/2 inch of a stem. I used a 1/8th bit and it just seems a bit big.

1/8... that's what I drill my draught hole with. It does sound a little large to me. I haven't hand cut any stems so my experience is limited to adjusting the slit in prefabs. But for that I have used a 5/54 bit. I chose that one because it would was the size of the prefab slit.

I use a 1/16" bit... not because I have huge experience and know what I'm talking about... only becuase it's the size I have read on this site and others... YMMV

#55 or #56 bits. I used to use 1mm, but they snapped too frequently under the force of my massive thumbs. 8)
