9mm Filter?

Post by taharris »

I have a customer that wants a pipe designed to accept a 9mm filter.

All the local drug store sells is the standard 6mm size.

Does anyone have a 9mm filter that they would be willing to send me?

I would be willing to trade some tobacco samples.

Thanks,

Todd, you may be best served by getting a few different brands of 9mm filter as they are not all quite the same size so you can be sure to accommodate any brand. Or check and see if your customer prefers a specific brand and make the pipe to fit that brand of filter.

The first filter pipe I ever made I fit with a dr perl jr filter that my customer supplied for sizing. The fit was a perfect friction fit. A few weeks back to me saying the filters he was using were too big and didn't fit. The filter he was using was a different brand and was just a hair too big to fit into the filter chamber.

Could just buy something like this too, then all you need is the actual filter length.

Also remember that the filter will swell a bit when smoking. I normally make the tenon side 8.5mm, so that it slides in relatively easy.

agree with carl.. just make a plug... 8.5mm diameter drilled hole will take a 9mm filter... and drilled to a 35-36mm length

So a 9mm filter is not 9mm in diameter?

Todd,

The Joby filters that I have are labeled "Dr Perl Junior " with a Vauen trade mark are 7.9mm in diameter and 35.8mm long. That is an average of five filters.

I, too, would get a filter from your customer to make sure that you both are on the same filter page.

Happy New Year to all of you.
