David M. Strikes Again

Post by LatakiaLover »

Seems to me that PMF might enjoy discussing this article as much as collectors:

I agree with the article. It's a good way to place a maker in a spectrum without pigeon holing them.

I started out willing to experiment and have gone back to the basics. Now I'm slowly working myself back around.

But seriously, I am interested in hearing other people's take on it.

I make pipes. I hope they don't fall apart.

A useful mindset for jungle life on PNG, no doubt.

Take a look at my pipes and then that the harsh reality that myself, wife and three daughters are living in a house that I built from lumber that I slabbed...VERY. SCARY. THOUGHT.

Not necessarily. Training specificity is amazingly narrow. Being a master of memory puzzle games, for example, has no effect on helping you find your car keys or cellphone. And being a world-class short distance runner means practically nothing in marathon-distance events. Hell, even world-class powerlifters are only mediocre Olympic-style (overhead) weightlifters unless they train in both sports.

In short, you can sleep soundly in your house knowing its bowl won't burn out, its bite zone collapse, or its shank crack during the night.

My version of making pipes with the repairman in mind...

Happy New Year, George!
