I've made some progress, trying something that for me at least is pretty ambitious. A sort of bent panelled Dublin. Because of the angle I had to orient it in the block to get the one panel as plateaux it needed a shank extension. Do people have opinions about that? It still needs a lot of shaping anyway, and I may decide to try and re-make it, maybe from a larger block, but that will require some shopping. Thoughts so far though?

@FJWyver

That looks great brother. I love the panels. I have yet to attempt one.
As for my opinion on the extension - as long as its strong, there's no problem. Looks good.

Guys, I hate to do this, but I've got to pull out. My "play" time in the shop is down to nothing and there's no way I will be able to make a pipe to even Turd standard before the deadline.

I haven't even ordered rod for the stem.

It's a mess.

I made 2 pipes for the PITH in case I screwed one up. Since I'm new at this, they both still have several mistakes. On the poker, I didnt spin my mouthpiece while sanding so it is perfect on one side and not on the other. There is probably too much shellac on both but this was new to me as well. I was able to sandblast them at Premal's shop (I've never sandblasted before). I would bring it over for inspection and hear "It's still a turd" over and over then "Finally, it looks like a pipe!" Whoever I send a pipe too can pick which one they want. I like the bent more, Premal likes the poker.

How is everyone doing? There are a few that are requesting more time and I suggest maybe we extend to August 10 or a later date. What do you all think?

I could use a little extra time if it works out.

Mine's ready. I've since engraved and bowl coated and just need to sew a bag.
