Right behind the button the stems measure .150" +/- .005"
I'd like to make them thinner, but I feel that I need to work on getting the stem slot thinner before I take them any smaller.

Abe
Anything .150 or less is fine. Mine are usually around .145.

Saw these pipes a few weeks ago in person, and they are very nice.

0.15" or less is pretty good. Not sure why they appear a bit thick. Maybe it's because the photos are so close up.

I wouldn't know which one to smoke first. Lovely stuff.

These really are pipes to drool over. Good job!
A couple of things that caught my eye (or might just be the pics):
The photo of the rhodie from the top seem to give the impression that the stem is a tad out of line with the shank.
The canadian's back could, for me, do with a bit more wood removed. A bit more of an inward curve, not neceesarily mirroring the front, but still there.
But this is just my amateur 1/2c, overall a really cool couple of pipes!

Thanks guys.

Charl, I agree with your two observations. The back of bowls always seems to be a tough spot for me, though I'm slowly getting better with that area.

Agreed. I usually take mine to around .135, but if the pipe is very large, I may keep the bit at around .150. A thin slit is paramount, though. Make sure a tapered pipe cleaner will pass easily, but outside of that, the thinner the better on your slot.

Awesome :notworthy:
Really elegant pipes. I love the rhodesian, it flows very nice.
Greetings,
