apprenticeships and craftsmanship

I came across this video last night and thought it may pertain to a few of the topics that have come up recently. It is a documentary focusing on the apprenticeships of aspiring japanese sword polishers. What is especially interesting to me is the interaction between the sensei and the students. He is particularly hard on the apprentice that isn't living up to his potential. There are a lot of correlations to the pipe world as far as quality and striving to be better every time.
