strawberry briar is a similar wood to briar but the grain is a lot more gnarly and swirly, though there are some straighter grained ones that look just like briar. Being a slightly softer wood than briar, it's ideal for gnarly grained blasts. They call it strawberry briar because the berry on the tree/bush looks like a strawberry (nothing to do with a strawberry tree or strawberry wood). If I had to guess, it would be in the same family as briar, but I'm totally pulling that part out my ass

Hope this helps

the strawberry briar has arrived!!

feel free to email me with orders, stevenorse@gmail.com

the sizes/quantities were much different than what I ordered, so here's what the revised options are;

ebauchon – $15.00
small plateaux = $15.00
large plateaux = $25.00
jumbo plateaux = $35.00

sizes below are W x H x L and are the minimum size, so your blocks may be bigger (most blocks are MUCH larger than the minimum)

ebauchon and small plateaux – 1 5/8″+ x 2″+ x 3″+
large plateaux – 1 3/4″+ x 2 1/2″+ x 3 1/2″+
jumbo plateaux – 2″+ x 2 3/4″+ x 4“+

** please note that the strawberry blocks are wet and will need to be wrapped in newspaper and left in a dry dark and somewhat cool place for a few months to slowly dry before it is ready to use **

Here's an eskimo I made out of some Strawberry Briar I got from Steve. The blast isn't very deep, but you can see what the grain looks like.
