No need to be scared of Ryan, everyone. He wouldn't/couldn't hurt a fly. He's actually really small and scrawny.
Good to see you're in on this dude!

Ok, I am warming up to the Military Mount idea, although, how cool would it be to get a pipe that also serves as a _______?

I actually like Premal's idea. I would also like to do a military mount. I'd be happy doing either.

Ok, I'm still a very inexperienced pipe maker. I tried participating in 2013's PITH and ended up dropping out after finding a fatal flaw in my briar without enough time to start over.
In spite of that, it would be fun to do it again.

Before I say "Yes! Count me in!" Are there any participants who wouldn't mind a beginner pipe in trade and what kind of deadline are we looking at?

I see plenty of these on Instagram. There's the pipe/war club, pipe/door stop, and a whole host of variations.

have we settled on the design then? Military mount is the only constraint? Or does it also have to be a remote car-starter?

and time line for completion on this PITH?

Thanks!

Usually it is put up for a vote once some ideas are gathered.

Ok, so I've been off the grid for the last few days, but I'm liking all the enthusiasm on this year's PITH. So far the only ideas offered have been calabash and/or variants, and military mount with possible secondary function. We'll give it a few more days to see if there's any more input, then I'll set up the vote function. Last year's due date was end of July. I'm ok with going with the same timeline this year. Is everyone ok with this?

I think it is:

Calabash +-variants
Military Mounts
Pipe with secondary function
??
??
??

Maybe? I don't know...

You forgot to add this to the shape idea list. Wish I was in the States so I could play too.

 oops! I just assumed it was more "local" because of the shipping costs.

Another theme idea: Shaping done without power tools. This would level the playing field for beginners without access to gear, and it would show if gear really matters in making a good pipe (other than speed, of course).
