I've reached number 25!

Post by BrianMadsen »

Hello guys, haven't posted a pipe here for a long time, but here's a special one.
It's number 25, my first comission, and with this one i celebrated to years of pipe making.
As always, comments and useful critique are more than welcome!

That's a really nice pipe!

I've only got two things to critique on it. First, the slot looks just a tiny bit off-center and a touch wobbly. Second, the stain looks "bland" in a few places. Maybe that's just lighting, but I would love to see that grain pop with some rich, slightly darker stain. The stain being a bit darker might also reduce the visibility of that unfortunate flaw in the flame grain.

Keep up the nice work!

Nice piece, but you have a few scratches at the shank bowl junction.

Thanks guys. It actually started out a little darker in the stain, but i had some trouble with buffing, mainly because my workshop is too cold. I had to re-buff and polish at Erik Nielsens workshop, so it became a little ligther in the stain that i had hoped for. But, i like it as it is, and i've learned some lessons with this one. The customer likes it very much too.

The only critique I have has already been covered. I think the slot could be a bit more precise and clean.

Too bad about the termites (mouse?) doing a number on the rim. :(
