2004 the Year of the American Carver?

Post by ArtGuy »

With the Euro and dollar the way they are, I was wondering if we will see more of an interest in American pipes.

Also, I feel that we are witnessing a Renaissance of sorts in American pipe carving. It seems the number and quality of pipes coming from the USA is rapidly increasing and we are seeing a lot more attention paid to the American carver.

I think that with the boom of new carvers there will be some who drop off and those that stay. Right now I think we are just in the beginning stages of that. It will be interesting to see what the talk will be like in Chicago this year.

what do you guys think? Is 2004 going to be "The Year of the American Pipe Carver"?

Marin Ferrent had an article on this a bit back. He thought the same thing, that with the low dollar and up and coming carvers, American carvers will see a renasaince.
