Sandblasted sitter poker. 4 1/2" long, 2 1/2" tall. I had the first stem about 80% done and filed through to the dumb delrin. I think this is the first poker I've done since my 2nd or 3rd pipe. As always would appreciate your critiques and advice.

Re: RHOX Poker...
The one thing I'd tweak is the top view of the stem. I like to see the shank diameter match the diameter of the stem and the width of the stem blade unless you're doing a fishtail, in which case, the stem would be tapered outwards at the last inch. It's not necessarily a mistake to do otherwise, but I think it would make the stem less visually "heavy" compared to the thinner bowl.
Re: RHOX Poker...
I think you're seeing an optical illusion because, in the top perspective, the stem is closer to the camera. It appears to actually taper slightly with the shank.

I think Sandahl meant that the button should be wider than the end of the shank, and the stem ever-so-gently flared to it rather than parallel sided/straight. I agree. It would both look better, and given the size of the stummel probably more comfortable, too.
The finish is a pretty fair version of Dunhill's earlier Shells, btw, and that ain't a bad thing. (This pipe sold for $2200 a few weeks ago. Compare the texture and color:)

$2,200? Shoot! I'll let this go for just $1,500.LatakiaLover wrote:I think Sandahl meant that the button should be wider than the end of the shank, and the stem ever-so-gently flared to it rather than parallel sided/straight. As I look at the pictures again, I do think if you held a straight edge on the shank, you'd see a slight bulge around the saddle of the stem on the sides.

That is made to have the shit smoked out of it. I like it!!!
Re: RHOX Poker...
I once had a guy tell me that a pipe I made looked like the pipe that Jesus would have smoked if He smoked a pipe. Not sure what he meant by that, but being a Christian missionary I took it as high praise. However, "This is made to have the shit smoked out of it" ranks right up there with it as the best compliment I feel one of my pipes have ever gotten, pipedreamer wrote:That is made to have the shit smoked out of it. JMJ- nice pipe. I find pokers are difficult to get right, and I like this one.
However, I am now wondering what the heck pipedreamer is smoking in his pipes.
