I am extremely fortunate to live not very far from Jason Thompson, an experience member of this board and maker of one of the 7 day set of pipes in the last Kansas City show. Jason allowed me to come to his shop and use his sand blast equipment to blast several pipes that had multiple surface imperfections. This is the first that I did solo. If I were to do it again, I would make the blast deeper to pick up more of the ring grain.

One minor detail you should add that I'm reminded of on this pipe is to put a slight relief on the inner edge of the rim/tobacco chamber. It doesn't have to be significant. Just don't leave a sharp edge there because it will be prone to burn. A quick go over with sandpaper does the trick.
