Can somebody tell me a good place to order stains from??? :thumb:

I'm using the same stuff that Rad is using, but I have heard really good things about the leather dyes, and they are on my list of things to try.

Rad, no offense meant. All I said was that *I* won't use anything else. You should use whatever you find gives *you* the best results.

Making pipes s like Unix administration - there are 142 different methods for arriving at the exact same result. And none of them are wrong.

Matt, to add to the above, I recommend you try several different types and brands of stains to see which ones work best for you and give you the finish you want.

This is the 3rd or 4th time they have been mentioned on here. I just checked them out yesterday only to find out that they are local for me! Woohoo! :thumb:

To respond to Kurt's mention of UNIX administration. I no longer stain my pipes myself...I have written a nice little shell script to do it for me. 8O

I use the "Leather Dye" - that first big block of dyes up at the top of the page. There are, almost literally, more colors than you need.

I have good luck buying the Fiebing Leather Dyes on Ebay. Just do a search using the word -- Fiebing.

I use the Fieblings as well. What is nice is that the color is consistant as it is already pre mixed. I use Lt. Brown, Med. Brown, Dark Brown, and Buckskin the most.
