I had the pleasure of meeting The Legend in person at the Greater Kansas City Pipe Club meeting this month and I have to say, what a remarkably friendly and straight forward person he is, rather refreshing in this day and age. Maybe I just haven't been hanging in the right circles, as everyone I met there seems to be very genuine and open. I did take a few of my lumps of briar that I call pipes in to hopefully get some hands on critique and he graciously agreed to have a look. I am very thankful for you taking the time to give me some honest feedback George, it was a great confidence booster for me and will hopefully get me to fix the things that I need to work on.

I got to meet George in Chicago. The only time in my life that I truly believe I met someone that I think is literally the best in the world at what they do.

I also had the pleasure of speaking with George in Chicago.
You are probably correct, John Michael, he certainly sets the standard for American carvers to aim for.
His evaluation of that Micah Cryder Horn was amazing. He picked it out by eyeball and later was able to back up his evaluation by comparing it to cylindrical sections. I was blown away.
