As someone going through 'the process' here, I think that the folks here do a really great job of not only not pulling punches but also tailoring the level of the feedback to the skill of the carver - so that the critique always has value no matter where you're at. And I do think that most of the folks looking for a quick head pat attaboy reinforcement and nothing else have largely kept the drive-by posts to Facebook, which is probably a plus. Most of the folks who are brave enough to venture here seem to be more serious about improving and getting good. I sure as hell know that I wouldn't have progressed as I have without this place, I just wish I'd started taking it seriously when I was 19 with my first kit instead of waiting 16 years to try learning how to do things properly.
