Done! I tried many new techniques and learned a lot but all but one had major problems, so the Volcano is my entry as a result.

Lots of firsts on this one. First RC, first split stem, first contrast blast attempt. I call it "Dragon Eggs" I guess. Though it's a little late to capitalize on the Game of Thrones hype.
Here is my submission. I could have(and arguably should have) spent another week working on it. I hade previously posted this pipe in the gallery. The two main critiques were that the stem was duck-billed and the bowl did not taper enough toward the top. I tapered the bowl to the extent that I felt I could without making the chamber wall too small. I also replaced pre-molded stem with this stem from Delrin and ebonite rod.
I changed my mind when I got to Columbus to deliver my pipe to Ocelot 55 (Jesse Jones)
I let him take his choice from my table and he took my favorite ( and highest priced) one (with my enthusiastic approval).
It was a wise decision on my part. Jesse got a beautiful pipe that I am sure he will appreciate and treat well, and I sold the three in the picture above. Win win!
I also donated one to the NASPC for their raffle.

Well, It was a sanding PLUS blasting artifact.
I was trying to blend the blast into the shank /stem junction like a certain curmudgeon (with a vicious photo editing program) on this forum favors, but I just ran out of time. I will keep that in mind for the NAPCC if the entry is a blast, however.
I did not pain me to give this one to the NASPC raffle.

If the shank (and therefore barrel) is truly round, allya gotta do next time is wrap the tenon with some tape, chuck gently in a cordless drill, and reverse spin the barrel against a belt sander a smidge, like so:
