My First Half-Decent Pipe

Post by Shankwoodcraft »

Hey Forum,

This is my first half-decent pipe. I'd love your feedback. There are some things I don't have yet due to budget :banghead:, but I thought I'd go ahead and hear what you guys think.

Anything helps,

Well the good news is, that is recognizeable as a pipe. So from here on in it's all just about making things better and better.

You could sand the stem more, get the molding lines (visible near the shank) off, you could slim down the button quite a bit too, looks pretty heavy from that angle. Not sure what you have for tooling, but working on getting a really perfect tight fit on the stem to shank transition should probably be a focus for next time, get that joint really nice and smooth and perfect.

It is difficult to assess a pipe presented in only a single view.
Read Premal Chheda’s sticky on which photographic views to present your work for a critique.
The lines and surfaces, and symmetry all need to be assessed from multiple view points

Thanks for the feedback.

I had a hell of a time just uploading the one photo but I'll be more aware now!
