Is there a supply source for silver or nickel rings for a military style stem mount? I have seen the rings available at Vermont Freehand but these are generally just a straight walled tube as far as I can tell. What I'm talking about curves inward towards the stem end which has a smaller diameter hole than the shank end. Any help much appreciated.

The straight ones are repair bands.

What you are looking for is not sold to the public that I know of. They are made by a shaping process called spinning. Peterson & etc make them in-house.

Salvaging one or learning to spin are your only options.

Try looking for rings made from coins might be a way to learn. I did learn that way on how to when i had to connect 2 sizes pipes on a water-cooler.

JHLowe used to sell those military mount spigot caps. However, I just looked and it doesn't look like they're available right now.

You don't have to spin them, you can cold forge them which is what I do but a lathe (wood or metal) is essential.
