How you got into pipe making: My interest in pipe making stems (no pun intended) from an interest in creating functional works of art. I have been turning small bowls, platters, and other small things since around 2011. Most of what I make is usually from wood that has been gifted to me and in turn (again, no pun intended) most of what I make is given as gifts. Learning and passing along a passion to others makes me smile.... some people read books, some run, some collect sea shells by the sea shore.... my therapy is woodworking.

Other interesting facts: Not a lot to report about myself.... but I will give it a shot. I love being surrounded by like minded, genuine people. I love to light the fire and smoke brisket all day...... as a retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant I am a Patriot!

We raised hell in our 4WDs in the base tank traps on weekends. Full of piss & vinegar was Danny. lol

He was a town fixture. If you arrived (retired to?) Swansboro after he checked out a few years ago there'd be no overlap, though.

Would you believe Emerald Isle used to be 99% empty? A small cluster of beach houses on the south end was it. Just dunes and beach everywhere else.

Small world... I’m not from here originally. I stayed in town after retiring. EI is definitely not empty now... there’s even a traffic circle.
