smellslave

Post by smellslave »

Hello All!
My name is rob and
53 y/o on upstate ny.
Have smoked pipes since '97,
when I cheaped out on cigars for everybody after my son was born and bought myself a pipe instead.
Had been wanting to make my own pipe for awhile when my wife and daughter bought me a kit.
Have a small beloved collection,
currently enamored with perique,
working with a drill press and my own hands on an xyz vise attached to my workbench.
If anybody has tips on working with card scrapers feel free to let me know...

Howdy, and welcome!
I'm originally from upstate, too. I grew up in Webster, just outside of Rochester, and went to my undergrad at Alfred. I've lived on the west coast for over 20 years, but you know what they say..... the east coast stays in your back pocket for when you need it...

Card scrapers?? some use them on stems, but there are not a lot of flat straight surfaces on a pipe. You're better off honing your skills with files and sandpaper....
