How you got into pipe making: Natural progression of the hobby, isn't it? Buy restored estate pipes, think "I could do that". Restore pipes, contemplate crafting your own pipes, think "I could do that". So hear I am!
Other interesting facts: I tie flies for fly fishing. It's basically the same progression of my pipe hobby. I started fly fishing, and began to think about tying my own flies. Got started, and then progressed to the point that a local shop liked what I tied and asked if I could tie four dozen each of a half-dozen patterns.
