Doc, one quick last question. Would you use that on a non-plateaux rim?

As I noted above, I cut a shallow bevel with the rotary drum. You can leave it flat- that is least interesting, but many do, you can round it , or you can make a shallow inward bevel, then smooth it by sanding.
The beveling tool/sander will work on any configuration and you don’t have to do any cutting with the rotary drum if thats all you want.
Functionally, the bevel can be small it you only want to blunt a possible point of ignition- this also leaves the deepest tobacco chamber, or you can go a bit deeper -say 1/8” or more for appearance.

What's the measurement of your bite zone? It looks a bit thick. I try to shoot for just over 4mm. Thinning out the bite zone, and the front half of the stem in general will give it a more elegant look.
I'd also give your stem less bend... even less than half of what you have. I think a subtle, barely there bend would look best.

But, good for you going back to this in such a drastic way, I think you have been rewarded with a MUCH better pipe...

I forgot a picture of the slot. Here it is. Also; the height in front of the button is 0.179. I realize I'm constantly shooting for 0.165 but this was my third piece of acrylic as well as going through a piece of Cumberland so I let it where it is. Doc, I noticed that you really cleaned up your plateaux rim. What do you use to get it down so clean?

I generally sandblast the plateau at some point- usually early in the operation.
Before I had a sandblast set up, I picked off the briar with a curved pick after a wire brush.
