Years a pipe smoker: 0 - I've smoked one bowl with some friends
How you got into pipe making: One of said friends got me a kit for Christmas last year and I thoroughly enjoyed carving my first pipe. Over the past year I've carved 3 more kits for those friends to be given as Christmas presents this year. Not being a smoker, I view these as essentially pieces of art (or aspire for them to be that nice) that I can smoke with friends every once in a while.
Other interesting facts: I'm a hobbyist woodworker and carver. Mostly I carve spoons as gifts for friends and family with the occasional non-spoon thing.
