For those considering the creation of a workshop/bench area I'd have one piece of advice. The thing I've been the most pleased with in the way I set this up (un-knowingly) was having an island bench. It's been great to be able to get at both sides, have power tools on both sides and not just have everything bunched up on one side. IMO, it works well.
