Post by forrest »

I live in Troutman, North Carolina, in Iredell county. Im looking for a pipe maker close by that might let me apprentice in their shop or just teach me how to make pipes. Im 40 years old, and willing to learn.

From the member's list I'd say you'd do good to PM:

Marks
Paul_Tatum
achduliebe

in case they miss your post.

Mark and Paul live in NC somewhere, and Bryan (achduliebe) lives SC.

Hello Forrest,

Somehow I must have missed your post. I live in Blythewood, SC, just north of Columbia. If you are ever interested in a road trip, I would be glad to show you what I know and how I go about my pipemaking.

Bryan, I really appreciate the offer. I would like to come to your shop. It would be after the richmond show before I could head that way.

Thank you,

Forrest

Hey Forrest,

That sounds good. Drop me a message after the Richmond show and we can set something up.

I seriously doubt he will. However, considering that he just moved to a new house, new state, new job, and new computer/internet connection... WITH two daughters in tow... I suspect it may be a while before you'd hear a response anyway

Sounds like he'll be busy for awhile. I wish him lots of luck.

If you have not already gone, I'd be interested in tagging along as well. At least maybe we could get together and share what we know (not much to be contributed from me, but it couldn't hurt). I live in Alexander county in Taylorsville, just one county over. Hey, we could start a pipemakers club locally! I know someone who turns pens and I think he would do us some workshops on stems (where I need the most work I think) if nothing else comes up. Send me an email if interested or if you had success in your search.
