Post by Heinz_D »

Just want to introduce my 1st "selfemade" pipe after my visit at Rainer Barbi (without a little help of my friend  )

Dimensions:

Length: 170 mm, Stem: 70 mm
Hight: 48 mm
Bowl width: 48 mm
Bowl length: 56 mm
Tobacco chamber: 22 x 40 mm
Weight: 62 g

Shank: 14 mm width, 16 mm hight at the shank/stem junktion
Stem: Epoxyd, Bernsteinimitate, oFi

Some words to the stem: Epoxyd is similar to Acryl, but it seems to be softer. It's easy to drill, easy to shape and also easy to polish! It's a little bit transparent you can see the cleaner goimg through. In earlier posts was a question about transparent stem material - I bought it from Marco Janzen as rodware. He's a lot of new rod material... http://www.janzen-pfeifen.de

Very nice, very nice pipe made from very nice briar.

In the third photo down it appears you have a white ring around the tobacco hole, is that a ring or light reflection from the camera? If it is a ring, what is the material and how did you do it?

Hi Bob Gilbert,

the "ring" is only a light reflection... The border of the tobacco chamber is slightly rounded.

Very nice looking pipe Heinz.

The tobacco chamber looks like it has a very wide,
flat bottom.
That is to say, that it appears that the walls of the chamber have very little angle to them.

Is that true? If so, how does this chamber shape smoke?

Many thanx,

Hi Steve,

the bottom of the tobacco chamber is an "U" as usuall... I think I'd a little trouble with the light while taking the pics? And the angle is a little bit to the left (in the pic). As example you can't see the airway.

Sorry guys, but I'm still trying to learn to make better pipe pics.

No worries about the photo. Very nice pipe.
Rather "Barbi-esque".
Cheers,
steve
