My bits really heated up. Am I pushing to hard?

At what RPM were you drilling?

I've since been told that 1750 rpms is just a tad fast for free drilling. D'OOH!

Jeez! I'll say. I normally go 500 - as slow as my lathe will turn. If I could get down to 350 I'd use that speed.

I do it at around 300. Adam Davidson spins it at 1000 so go figure.
