Delrin - Teflon

Post by donbernard »

The question lies in the subject line.
Is Delrin the same as Teflon?.
Here in Europe I am able to get "Teflon" tennons easily whereas Delrin I have to order from the US and wait up to two weeks for delivery.

They're different so far as I know. Delrin is otherwise known as acetal, so you might want to look it up that way on your side of the pond. Dunno if it'll help you out at all but it might.

Yes, they are definitely different materials. Teflon works fine. I think both materials are self lubricating....oohhh yyeaah. I love self lubricating.

I wonder if there's a European name for Delrin?

The trade name is acetal. I would think it would be the same worldwide but I'm not sure. I just know when I look it up at onlinemetals, that's how its listed.
