Dublin canted or not?

Post by flix »

Hi All,

I'm fixing to do me a Dublin shape, straight up. I've done a search to see if there are any rules to whether canting the bowl is mandatory, couldn't find any.

Can a straight Dublin have a bowl that's 90 degrees to the shank and still look good?

I've seen both canted and perpendicular, on straight Dublins all over the world. When canted, the description has called it out. When not, I've not seen anything mentioning a "rigid" or "perpendicular" bowl.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Michael,

I cant my straight dublins the same as I do a billiard, about 3 degrees forward.

I think you'll find that at 90 degrees, it will look like it's leaning backwards.

Flix -- Tilt it. Even billiards are tilted. It's an optical illusion that's necessary to make them look straight, believe it or not.
UFOs must be real. There's no other explanation for cats.
