Curly Maple?

Post by hazmat »

Is curly maple a decent wood to use for shank extensions, etc?

I'm sure. In the pics you can see the grain well enough to get an idea. I'm considering getting a length of it just to play around with.

Pen with curly maple.

Curly maple makes great looking pens. I am not sure if you would get the same affect on a shank extension due to the smaller amount being used, but I think it would be worth a try.

Here are a couple of links to a pen that I made out of curly maple. My wife loved it and snagged it right a way.

And the price is right, too. That's enough to put me in guitar bodies for a couple years! Unforch, I can't afford it right now, or I'd already be in the pickup. :)
