Thanks, but they are out of stock, and expensive!
Anyone else have suggestions?
Thanks again,

You won't find any rod cheap these days. If you do, please post here for the rest of us.

PME is pretty much it in the US for cumberland.
You can buy direct from the factory in Germany, and it's much cheaper per rod, but they require a large minimum order.

thanks for the info.
Anyone have a piece or two they would sell?
Also, doe anyone know if there is a difference between vulcanite that you buy from pipe making suppliers and all the static stuff from science supply stores at a fraction of the price?
Thanks,
Ken

That's a great question. I have thought about buying some of that at times just to try. Wonder if anyone ever has?

Check the diameter before you buy.
The stuff I've seen has ben 12mm, which is too small for stems. You need at least 16mm.

Rad,
Do you have contact info for the factory in Germany?
Anyone interested in doing a group order?

The rod you showed is nearly 13 mm, so it would be worth a try. At the price anyway.

You just missed out on one. See the buy/sell/trade section for the thread. There are a couple companies making ebonite now, and the one this particular group buy is using is this outfit:

I can't remember where or when, but I think someone reported back to this forum that the quality isn't that great. For what it's worth, my research shows it's probably made in India. Still, for $4 it's worth experimenting with.
