Hmmm, having a harder time choosing which pipe theme to vote for than I did for president or any of the local issues.

What does bridge-over imply?

I'd say it implies anything that you'd like it too.............

I'm not sure, but the first thing I thought of was to incorporate a bridge into the pipe shape, like some I've seen from Lee Von Erck.

Hmm, well I was going to post a theme in the other thread, but now you've started voting already.

I was going to suggest Art Deco or Modernism; two of my favorites in art.
I can't say I really understand some of the themes above, or how they would apply to a pipe by beginning and intermediate pipe-makers.
Figurals? Justice? Those sound hard and like a ton of work to me.

Can I ask how many participants there are?

I don't think I was clear so let me edit here. What I meant by "how many" is that we have a lot of choices in the poll. Does this mean that the winning theme will or could win with a majority vote of two or three? Are there more choices than participants (total votes possible)? Neither of the above seem like a very good deal. I would suggest we break it down into a few steps. From here maybe have another poll/round of voting on the top 3 or 5, from which we can get a better majority pick, although everyone would probably need to have at least 5 votes for that to be possible. Plus this would give us somethings to start focusing on for the last month or so, before we get serious about this in Jan/Feb 2009.

I agree, some of the themes are going to be difficult, but that's really sort of the point. Hell, for me, a figural pipe would be about the most difficult thing I've done in briar. I've never been much of a realist sculptor. But it would get me to push myself - and I might even be surprised by the results. Really what this is, is a learning experience. And if you never push your bounderies, you never know how far you can go.

Voting is open to everyone, but voting doesn't mean you're bound to participate. I'd love to see all 20 voters in the PITH, but if it ends up being half that, I'll still be tickled pink.

I think I'll take a cue from the Knife Network on this PITH, and simply having more votes than any other choice will create a winner. No need to overcomplicate things. If there is a tie, I may decide to combine themes, but that really depends on how many are in tie, and if they seem to compliment each other. I'm really interested in where this is going to go in the final day of voting.
