Unstitched wheel

I was reading that you don't want to use a stitched muslin wheel to apply wax. Do I need to buy one or can I cut the stitching out of one I already have ?

I have the Beal Buffing System and really like it. Anyone have a source for replacement wheels like the ones with this system?
